Laddsworth
is very much a mirror of the Hilton community that it serves.
It is an exciting, vibrant and cosmopolitan centre for 490 boys and
girls from Grade 1 to Grade 7.
Our pupils are all day-scholars and study in an ordered and
happy environment. We actively encourage self-discipline,
along with respect and care for others.
We offer
class teaching of eight subjects at senior level, two of which
are specialist disciplines. The latter are Media and Computer
Studies, to which an hour is devoted weekly. Laddsworth achieves
solid academic results every year, with our leavers invariably
gaining entry to the high schools of their choice. Our scholars
compete academically with those from the Independent School
system, and win a variety of scholarships to both State
and Independent Senior Schools on a regular basis.

Our Head
teacher is Mrs. Anne Tarr, who took over the reins in
July 2003. Anne rejoined the staff after several years as an
H.O.D. at Longmarket Girls School. Prior to this, Anne taught
at Laddsworth, so her return is a "return to sources" in many
ways. She leads a dedicated team of 26, of whom 3 are male.
The presence of male staff has important benefits both in the
classroom and for our sports programme.
The staff are an unusual and interesting mix of long service
and youthful innovation. The "longevity" of the more
established members brings with it a sense of continuity for
our scholars, and this is balanced by the vibrancy of new ideas.
We work hard at attracting and keeping the services of innovative
and exciting teachers, and will introduce them on the "Focus
On" page in the near future. Have a look, too, at our "History"
link to view snapshots of the past century. We invite you to
read on...
