Laddsworth regards care for the environment as extremely important, and offers support to organisations
working in this field.
We have recently made contact with a new wildlife rehabilitation centre known as the FreeMe Centre,
which is based just outside Howick adjacent to the Amber Valley Retirement Home. Laddsworth held
a "civvies day" and the funds collected were donated to the centre.
The KZN FreeMe Centre was founded following on the success of a similar centre in Johannesburg. It is entirely dependent on the
support of members of the public for funding, and takes in wild creatures which are ill or injured.
Every attempt is made to rehabilitate and release the animals once they have been cured. Members of the
public are asked to support the centre not only with regular funding, but also through the
donation of old newspapers, old blankets and towels, and used margarine tubs, the latter being used for feeding
of the animals. The centre is open daily 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for visits by individuals or groups,
and over weekends as well. Make contact with the FreeMe Centre on 033-3303036 or for emergencies on cell 083 325 9947.

Roz is holding an injured duiker. The animal cannot be released to the wild as it is blind in its right eye.
Its growth was also stunted through improper feeding regimes by well-meaning humans immediately following its original injury. |
