KwaZulu-Natal Judo Selection

Jordan Plaatjes, a Grade 6 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School has been selected to represent KwaZulu-Natal at the upcoming South African Open Judo Championship to be held in Bloemfontein from 2 to 8 July 2017. Jordan will be competing under 38kg in the 12 year old category. This is the second year that Jordan has been selected to represent KwaZulu-Natal in Judo.
Congratulations Jordan, we wish you all the best for the championship!
 

KwaZulu-Natal Gymnastics Union Colours

Two Laddsworth Grade 4 pupils; Ellen Oosthuizen and Kendra Tongue, both Level 2: Under 10 category, were awarded KwaZulu-Natal Union colours for Women’s Artistic Gymnastics. They have been selected to represent KwaZulu–Natal at the Inter Provincial Gymnastics North Zone Festival for Levels 1 – 3 from 23 to 24 June 2017 in Johannesburg. Congratulations and all the best for the upcoming competition.

Laddsworth Primary School took part in the Pelham under 10 Soccer Tournament on 10 June 2017. The Laddsworth under 10 team played against Ixopo, Merchiston, Athlone, Bisley and St Nicholas and were crowned the Tournament Champions after a nail biting penalty shootout against Merchiston in the Final.
Well done boys!

Royal Show Embroidery Achievements

Laddsworth Pupils, who are part of ‘the holiday group’ of the Embroiderers’ Guild of South Africa entered the Royal show competition and each won a prize. Amy achieved the highest mark and won a sponsored prize, donated by Hazel Blomkamp.

Royal Show Equestrian 2017

Kimé Brits, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, competed at the Royal Show on her horse Cruisia Nikki.
Kimé was crowned the Royal Show Junior Newcomer Champion, 1st SASA Newcomer Horse, 1st SASA Best Walk, 2nd SASA Working Hunter Horse, 3rd SASA Best Trot, 3rd Best Rider and 3rd Newcomer.
 

Chess Champions!

Laddsworth Primary School Chess teams participated in the Midlands Junior School Chess Championship at St. Nicholas Diocesan School on 29 May 2017. Luke and Stephen, both Grade 7 pupils, competed in the Senior Section (Grade 6 & 7). They both won their round robin matches and their semifinals and ended up playing against each other in the finals. Luke won and was awarded with the over-all championship trophy for the senior section. Stephen was awarded a certificate for runner-up. Well done boys, we are very proud of your achievement.

Omar races to Provincial Success

Omar Wilson, a Grade 5 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, took part in the KZN MTB XCO Provincial #3 race on Saturday, 3 June, at Cascades, Pietermaritzburg. By coming 4th in the first race (Omar crashed out but made a great recovery, coming from the back of the field to 4th) and then 1st in both the second and third races in the series, Omar has won the KZN MTB XCO Provincial Series in his age category – Male Sprog – which is the U12 category. Well done Omar!

Gymnastics Club Competition

Laddsworth Grade 4 pupils; Kendra Tongue and Imogen Kirby, participated in the South African Gymnastics Federation, Club Trophy Coastal Competition held in Durban on Saturday, 27 May 2017. Kendra took part in the Freedance and Hoop Routines and was placed first in the Under 10 Category, receiving a Gold Medal and the prize for the highest mark in the Under 10 section. Imogen Kirby took part in the Rope-Apparatus ‘Ready or not’ and achieved a second place. Well done Girls!

Laddsworth Pupils participated in the Karkloof Classic, which was held on Sunday 28 May in Karkloof.
Blake Francis (Grade 2), Matthew Hay (Grade 2) and Louise Hay (Grade 5) 20km
Blake Frodsham (Grade 7) came 17th in his age group, and 100th overall.
Sven van Zuydam, Grade 7 came 14th in his age group.

Royal Show

Grade One pupils from Laddsworth Primary School; Megan Gibbs and Sebastian Bezuidenhout took part in the Royal Show on Friday 26 May. Sebastian rode his pony ‘Toddy’ and achieved a placed, 2 fourth places and a third place. Megan rode her pony ‘Dolcoed Double Diamond’ known as ‘Dee-Dee’ and she achieved 2 third places and 2 fourth places.

Laddsworth pupils took part in the Gymnastics Provincial Festival, held in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday 20 May 2017. Abbie Julius Level 2: 7 years, Emma Kloppers and Hope Greef: Level 1: 9 years. They have been awarded Kwa-Zulu Natal Union colours and will represent KZN and compete in the Inter-Provincial competitions in Johannesburg. We wish them the best of luck.

Cross Country at Laddsworth

On Friday, 5 May Laddsworth Primary School hosted 24 schools at its Annual Inter-Schools Cross Country Meeting. Over 800 children participated in this event. The Laddsworth team consisted of 178 children. Our team did extremely well and many of our runners were placed in the top 10. Well done to all the participants.

5-a-side Soccer Tournament 2017

Laddsworth Primary School hosted a 5-a-side Soccer Tournament on Saturday 22 April 2017. Over 420 children in 60 teams from many schools around Pietermaritzburg and as far afield as Kokstad, participated in a fun-filled morning. A very big thank you to the Hilton Quarry SUPERSPAR for sponsoring the Laddsworth 5-a-Side Soccer Tournament. The results were as follows: Under 9 Winner: Alston Primary School, Runner up: Scottsville Primary School. Under 10 Winner: Hayfields Primary School, Runner up: Clarendon Primary School. Under 11 Winner: Hayfields Primary School, Runner up: Scottsville Primary School. Open Winner: Woodlands Primary School, Runner up: Alston Primary School. Congratulations to all the participants.
