Laddsworth Senior Primary Prize Giving

Laddsworth Primary School held their Annual Senior Primary Prize Giving on Wednesday 6 December 2018. Rachel Forrest (Grade 7) was named the Dux of the school, and also received the following awards:
The Trust Cup, Dux of the School
Collin's Cup for Mathematics
Gould Cup for English
Creative Arts Cup

KFC Tennis Tournament

Laddsworth pupils took part in the KFC Tennis Tournament at Kershaw Park, in Pietermaritzburg, from Saturday 1 December to Sunday 2 December 2018.
Tessa Moreno won the Under 10 Singles and was the Runner up for the Doubles
Jodi Moreno and Lucy Baker was the Under 12 Doubles Runners up.

Rhythmic Gymnastics Prize Giving

Lily Smit, a Grade 3 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, received awards at the Silver Mist Studio Rhythmic Gymnastics Display in Pietermaritzburg on Thursday 27 November 2018. She received awards for completing Level 1 and for qualifying for the KwaZulu-Natal team

Laddsworth Junior Primary Nativity Play ‘Meredith the Camel’

The Laddsworth Grade 1 and 2 pupils performed the Nativity Play titled, ‘Meredith the Camel’ to their Grandparents on Tuesday 27 November 2018. The packed school hall of Grandparents were delighted to watch a traditional Nativity Play, which they all enjoyed. The pupils will also entertain their parents with two evening performances on Wednesday 28 November and Thursday 29 November.

Provincial KZN MTB Colours

Omar Wilson, a Grade 6 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School was awarded his KwaZulu-Natal Colours for Mountain Biking on Saturday 24 November 2018 in Durban.
Omar achieved his colours in the Sprog Boys, Under 12 Category. He represented KZN at the SA Downhill Championships at Hartebeespoort in April, where he came first in his category. He also represented KZN at the Enduro Championships at Karkloof in October, where he came first again. Omar came 2nd at the Spur XCO School Series and 2nd at the ROAG Marathon Series in his category.

Laddsworth Cricket Stars

Laddsworth played cricket against Pelham Primary School on Saturday 10 November 2018.
Joshua Julius made 103 runs for the 1st Team and Viwe took 6 wickets for 14 runs off 6 overs for the under 10A Team.

KZN Cricket Inland Squad

Laddsworth Grade 6 pupil, Ryan McKean has been selected for the Under 12A KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Inland Squad. Ryan will be taking part in the Inter-Provincial Tournament, which will take place in Gauteng from 9 to 19 December 2018.

South African BMX Championship

Liam Buis, a Grade 1 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, took part in the South African BMX Championship, held on 7 October 2018, in Pietermaritzburg. Liam was placed 6th in his age group of Under 7 Boys.
Liam will be competing in the last round of KwaZulu-Natal races on 26 October 2018 at Giba Gorge.
We wish Laim well for these last BMX races.

Umgungundlovu Inter-District Relay team

Taebron Jursa, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, was selected to run on Saturday, 29 September for Umgungundlovu in a KZN Athletics Inter-District relay team at Kings Park Athletics Stadium in Durban. She ran in the Under 15 Girls, Swedish Medley Relay and the Under 17 Medley Relay, running the 100m section. Her team won all their races. Unfortunately the Under 17’s dropped a baton, but still managed to win the Best District Girls Team and the Best Overall District Team (boys and girls).

Bronze at 2018 South African Gymnastic Games

Crystal Viljoen, a Grade 5 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School competed at the 2018 South African Gymnastic Games, held at WITS University in Johannesburg on Sunday 30 September 2018.
Crystal competed at Level 9 Rhythmic Gymnastics, and was the youngest competitor in the rotation.
She managed podium finishes on all 3 required routines, and was the overall South African Bronze Medalist.

KZN Junior Championship Gala

Laddsworth pupils took part in the KwaZulu-Natal Junior Championship Gala from Friday 21 - Sunday 23 September at King's Park Pool in Durban.

Georgina Francis (Grade 6), took part in numerous races and achieved Personal Best times in all her events.
Patrick Lamb (Grade 5), advanced into 4 finals and achieved personal best times in all his events.

South African Representation for Abigility Maths

Two of our Laddsworth pupils were awarded trophies in the KZN Regional Abagility Maths Club Championship held on Saturday, 25 August in Hillcrest, where around 350 pupils participated across various levels.
Abigility teaches addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, based on Japanese abacus maths techniques. Two papers were written, one using an abacus and a second paper using ‘Anzan’ which is mental arithmetic.
Tessa Moreno (Grade 3) won the Champions trophy for her module; she was also placed 5th in the Junior ‘Anzan’ Dictation Challenge.
Jodi Moreno was awarded the Champions trophy for her module, and was placed 2nd overall in the Senior Abacus Dictation Challenge and 2nd in the Advanced Anzan Dictation Challenge. She was also chosen to do an Anzan demonstration.
Both girls have been chosen to represent South Africa in the International Competition on 30 September 2018 in Gauteng.

Well done to Jodi and Tessa, we are very proud of your achievements!

Laddsworth Senior Primary Athletics Day

Laddsworth Primary school held its annual Athletics Field Events on 16 August and Track Events on 17 August 2018. Grade 3 to 7 pupils took part in the event and there was great rivalry between the four Houses: Duiker, Kudu, Nyala and Oribi, with Duiker coming out the winner at the end of the two events.
Despite the cold weather 4 records were broken over the two days:
 Shot Put Girls Under 11 – Danielle Kaschula (Kudu) – Distance 9,15m
 High Jump Boys Under 9 – Declan Bornman (Oribi)- Height 1,11m
 High Jump Girls Under 11 – Ellen Oosthuizen (Oribi) – Height 1,30m
 Under 9 Boys 100m Relay –– Ayanda Kunene, Nicandro Padayachee, Cameron Dunbar and Quillan Fyvie (Oribi) – Time: 1m 09,94s

‘Fury’ Raffle for 2018

Laddsworth Primary School participated in the Fury Raffle from May to July 2018. We would like to thank everyone who supported the raffle. An amount of R 40 310,80 was raised for our school.
Laddsworth pupils were awarded for selling the most tickets:
1st Prize: Bryn Horsley (Grade 1) won a Mountain Bicycle from Jowetts Cycles
2nd Prize: Lucy Baker (Grade 5) won a Liberty Mall Voucher
3rd Prize: Emma Lycett (Grade 6) won an Exclusive Books Voucher
Laddsworth is very grateful to The Fury Motor Group for their sponsorship and we look forward to their continued involvement with our school.

Silver at Golf Reef Rhythmic Gymnastics Invitational

Crystal Viljoen, a Grade 5 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School took part in the Golf Reef Rhythmic Gymnastics Invitational in Guateng on Saturday 4 August 2018. Crystal competed in the Level 9 Under 13 category: Clubs; Ball and Hoop, she received 2 Silver Medals, and 1 Bronze Medal and an overall Silver Medal.
