Robyn Temple, a Grade 3 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School participated in the Gwahumbe MTB Family Ride on Sunday 22 April 2018 in Eston. Robyn came second in the 18km Nippers Girls (Under 9/10 age group).

Music Magnificent Concert

Members of the Laddsworth Senior Choir participated in the Music Magnificent Concert at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall on Wednesday 18 April 2018. The concert was organised by the Department of Arts and Culture of the Province of KwaZulu-Natal. Other choirs who participated included Drakondale Girls Choir, Epworth Preparatory School, Gert Maritz Primary School, the Pietermaritzburg Children’s Choir, Carter High School and the Msunduzi Chorale. The 66 member choir from Laddsworth, under the direction of Mrs Leslie Duffy and assisted by Mrs Jenny Raubenheimer, sang beautifully.

Laddsworth hosts annual Boys 5-a-side Soccer Tournament

Laddsworth Primary School hosted its annual 5-a-side Soccer Tournament on Saturday 14 April 2018. Over 300 children from 44 teams took part in the tournament. The tournament was a great success with the players being exposed to high paced games against a number of opposition teams. Thank you to Hilton Quarry SuperSpar for sponsoring the tournament. They gave every player a fruit juice, packet of chips and a doughnut to help sustain their energy levels throughout the morning. It was a very successful Tournament and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who participated.

Success at Dargle Mounted Games

Jordyn de la Mare, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School competed in the Turn and Burn Western Mounted Games in the Dargle, on Saturday 14 April 2018. Jordyn received 6 rosettes: 5 first places for figure of 8 flags, speed ball, speed barrel, Big T and for coming first overall. She also received a second place for poles. Well done Jordyn!

South Africa National Junior Swimming Champs

Jack Holtzhauzen with his hat trick ball and a trophy ball for the 6 wickets
Thomas Truter, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School competed at the South African National Swimming Championships in Durban on 22, 23 and 25 March 2018. Thomas came 14th in the 50m breast stroke, 14th in 100m breast stroke and 17th in 200m breast stroke. Thomas improved his entry times by 3:13 seconds in the 50m 2:06 seconds in the 100m and 5:37 seconds in the 200m.

CF Tennis Easter Tournament 2018

Laddsworth pupils excelled at the CF Tennis Tournament at Kershaw Park in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday 24 March and Sunday 25 March 2018.
Tessa Moreno, Grade 3 was the Under 10 Singles Runner-up
Sarah Tilbury, Grade 4 was the Under 10 Singles Champion
Tessa Moreno and Sarah Tilbury were Runners-up in the Girls Under 10 Doubles
Jodi Moreno, Grade 5 was the Under 12 Singles Runner-up
Jodi Moreno and Lucy Baker, Grade 5, were the Runners-up in the Girls Under 12 Doubles.

Winners of Inter-Schools 'B' Gala

Laddsworth Primary School’s Girls Swimming Squad won the Inter-Schools ‘B’ Gala, held at Pine Street Pool in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday 7 March 2018. Our Team broke two records: Under 10 Girls 4 x 25m Mixed Medley in a time of 1:28,69 and the Under 12 Girls 4 x 25m Breaststroke in a time of 1:24,77 The Laddsworth Girls team now regain their spot in the Inter-School’s ‘A’ Gala in 2019.
Well done to our swimmers and coaches for their hard work and determination this season.

Inter-Schools ‘A’ Gala hosted by Laddsworth Primary School

Laddsworth Primary School hosted the Inter-Schools ‘A’ Gala on Tuesday 6 March 2018 at Pine Street Pool in Pietermaritzburg. The event was a huge success, and our Laddsworth Boys team enjoyed their best ever result with a third place at the ‘A’ Gala.
Congratulations to Merchiston Preparatory School who have won the Boys ‘A’ Gala for 55 years consecutively, and to The Wykeham Collegiate for winning the Girls ‘A’ Gala for 21 years in a row.

Laddsworth Primary School turns 115 Years old

Laddsworth Primary School turned 115 years old on 1 March 2018. Miss Daisy Ladds opened Laddsworth Primary School on 1 March 1903, she started the school with 12 pupils on the verandah of her home. Today Laddsworth has over 550 pupils and continues to ‘Aim High’ by upholding the strong values and ethos which are a hallmark that our school has been building on for so many years.

Modelling Competition

Mieke van der Merwe, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, took part in a Pure Model World photographic modeling competition in March 2018, in Pietermartizburg, and was crowned first Princess. Mieke was also crowned first Princess in the Pure Model Miss Valentines Competition in February 2018.

3rd in KwaZulu-Natal in 1200m

Jodi Moreno, a Grade 5 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, participated in the 1200m event at Pietermaritzburg Central Athletics Trials on Tuesday, 13 February 2018, where she came first. Jodi was then selected to run the 1200m event at the District Selection Athletics in Durban on Friday, 16 February and came third.
Well done Jodi, we are extremely proud of you.

Far North Cricket Selection 2018

Daniel Holtzhauzen, Grade 7, Ryan McKean, Grade 6, and Colin Robertson, Grade 6, have been selected for the Far North Cricket team.
They will be taking part in Midlands Cricket Trials at the Under 12 and Under 13 Central District Cricket Festival at St Charles College in Pietermaritzburg on Friday 2 March & Sunday 4 March 2018.

Laddsworth Pupils took part in the Wartburg Mountain Bike Classic on Saturday 10 February 2018 in Wartburg.
Emlyn May, Grade 1, was placed 2nd in the 10km, under 12 age group
Annay May, Grade 3, was placed 3rd in the 10km, under 12 girls age group
Matthew Rawson, Grade 3, placed 2nd in the 25km under 12 boys age group.

Adam Tilbury, a Grade 5 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, took 5 wickets for 11 runs on Saturday 3 February 2018, when the Under 11A Team played against Pelham in Pietermaritzburg. Laddsworth won the match by 8 wickets.
