KZN Duiker Rugby Team selection

Chris Prinsloo, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, who plays for the Pietermaritzburg Collegians Youth Rugby Club, has been selected to represent the KZN Duiker team. Chris will travel with his team to Pretoria to play in the Interprovincial Tournament in the October holidays.

Laddsworth pupils took part in the SASMT Eisteddfod 2017, which was held at The Wykeham Collegiate on Monday 7 August 2017.
Casey Mosdell achieved 2 silver certificates and 1 bronze for Strings: Violin, Grade 2
Kayleigh Henderson achieved a silver certificate for Woodwind: Flute, Pregrade 1
Emma Lycett achieved 3 silver certificates for Classical Piano, Grade 2
Isobel Armstrong achieved 2 gold certificates for Classical Piano, Grade 3
Laddsworth is very proud of our musical talent, well done girls!

KZN Midlands Youth Ballet

Jessica Conway successfully auditioned for the KZN Midlands Youth Ballet Company. The KZN Midlands Youth Ballet in association with the Cape Town City Ballet presented the ‘Ugly Duckling’ during the July holidays at the Hilton College Theatre.
Jessica was a swallow in the cast, which included four professional dancers from the Cape Town City Ballet Youth Project, choreographed and directed by Robin van Wyk.
We are very proud of Jessica on her selection for the KZN Midlands Youth Ballet Company.

Consulting Civil Engineers Sports Day

Ruth Bromley, a Grade 6 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, took part in the Consulting Civil Engineers Sports day over the weekend in Pietermaritzburg. Ruth’s team was placed third overall in the obstacle course.

Kendra Tongue received 3 silver certificates for Classical Piano, Grade 1

Laddsworth Hosts first 5-a-side Girls Soccer Tournament

Laddsworth Primary School hosted its first Girls 5-a-Side Soccer Tournament on Saturday 29 July 2017. 322 girls in 46 teams from many schools around Pietermaritzburg and as far afield as Ixopo, Richmond, Treverton and Underberg, participated in a fun-filled morning. We would like to thank Hilton Quarry SUPERSPAR for sponsoring the tournament.

Man and Machine Enduro

Connor Potgieter, a Grade 5 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, took part in the 2-day Man and Machine Enduro at Boston from 28 to 29 July 2017. Connor, who is only 11 years old, was the youngest rider to enter this extremely tough Enduro on his KTM 85. The course covered 95km each day, with rocky terrain and tricky river crossings. Connor’s bike, seized on the home stretch, but the Marshall was able to take him over the finish line to claim his trophy.
Well done Connor, we are very proud of your achievement!

Howick Highlander

Laddsworth pupils took part in the Howick 1st Cubs and Scouts Howick Highlander on Sunday 30 July 2017, in the Umgeni Valley.
Louise Hay, Matthew Hay and Matthew Rawson did the 20km mountain bike ride.
Irie-Mae Bailey, Jack Harley (placed 6th) Rex Harley, and Matt Bisset (8th) did the 10km Mountain bike ride.
Jamie Humphrey and Ryan McKean (2nd Under 11) did the 5km trail run.
Brady Bullock came 1st in the 20km Trail Run.
Well done boys and girls!

Fury Raffle

Laddsworth Primary School would like to thank the Midlands community for supporting the “Fury” Raffle this year. An amount of R37 173 was raised for our school. We are very grateful for The Fury Motor Group sponsorship and we look forward to their continued involvement with the school in the future.

Laddsworth Pupil aces FGASA Pangolin course

Amy Robertson, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, completed the FGASA (Field Guides Association of South Africa) Pangolin Bushveld Course to become a ranger over the July holidays. Amy Achieved 98% for Bushveld Pangolin, 93% for Pangolin Desert, and 90% for Pangolin River. Due to the high marks Amy achieved, she will do a talk for FGASA on the 12th August 2017 in Johannesburg.

Hilton Tennis Club Junior Tournament

Laddsworth Grade 4 pupils excelled at the Hilton Tennis Club Junior Tournament, held on 22 and 23 July 2017. Reuben Macfarlane won the Under 10 Singles category, Adam Tilbury was runner up in the same category. Adam and Joshua Tilbury won the Under 10 boys doubles category. Reuben won the Under 10 mixed doubles category.

Silver at Interprovincial Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition

Kendra Tongue, a Grade 4 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School participated in the Rhythmic Gymnastics North Zone Interprovincial competition, held in Johannesburg on Friday 23 June 2017. Kendra competed as part of the KwaZulu-Natal Gymnastics Union Team, and was awarded a silver medal in the level 2 under 10 section.
 

Rosettes at Pietermaritzburg Pony Show

Megan Gibbs, a Grade 1 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School took part in the 56th Pietermaritzburg Pony Show at the Royal Show grounds over the July holidays. Megan achieved a second place in Farm Pony and a third place for Best Rider.

500km in 5 years!

Laddsworth Grade 7 pupils; Michael Finch and James Slabberts have completed 100km every year from Grade 3 to Grade 7, which means they ran 500km whilst in Senior Primary!

Water Festival at Laddsworth

Laddsworth Primary School hosted a Water Festival on Friday, 23 June 2017. Laddsworth won R4 500 for being one of 5 top schools for the Water Explorer Programme. Selected Grade Four to Seven children worked hard and showcased their Water projects. The Water Festival was most enjoyable and will hopefully inspire our pupils to continue to be ‘Water Wise’ for many years to come.
