Laddsworth wins the Quarry Centre Showstopper Bake-Off!

Laddsworth Primary School took home 1st Place at the Showstopper Great Schools’ Bake Off on Saturday, 17 May 2025.

17 Grade 7 girls under the guidance of Mrs Ilijevski and Miss Joubert took three weeks, working hard until late in the afternoons to create an amazing cookie, fondant, and cake masterpiece. This year’s theme was “2025: The Year We All Thrive,” and they showed how our school shines by building a cookie version of The Quarry Shopping Centre.

A train leaves the Quarry, carrying symbols of Education, Culture, Music / Drama, Sport, Health and Family, all the ways the Hilton Community is thriving. It chugs up the railway line around the tasty two-tiered cake and towards the rainbow bridge. At the top, the Laddsworth mascot Zeeb, lounged proudly on a Hilton daisy!

Every detail of this huge cake-and-cookie creation was carefully planned by the girls, telling Hilton’s story from past to future in one dazzling display.

The best part? Fireworks lit up the cake as the judges arrived – a perfect way to celebrate our Hilton community thriving together!

The win is amazing, but the true joy was seeing the girls’ vision come to life. Laddsworth is so proud of you all!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the Great Schools Bake-Off & Expo 2025 a success! A special thanks to Mrs Ilijevski for her dedication and patience in guiding the girls to decorate their cakes.

We are grateful to Mrs Jager, Mr Binedell, Mrs Pienaar, the School Management Team, Mr Pieters, and the Laddsworth Security Guards for their hard work in organising the Expo.
A big thank you to the Grade 2, 4, and 6 parents for their generous donations and for providing popcorn, toffee apples, and cupcakes for sale during the event.

Finally, thanks to Mrs Nicky Downes and Hilton Quarry SuperSpar for hosting and to Foodpak for their kind sponsorship and ingredient discounts.

LADDSWORTH SWIMMING MAKES HISTORY

Following the outstanding success of the Laddsworth Boys’ and Girls’ A Swimming teams, we are proud to confirm that Laddsworth has made history as the first school to ever win both the Boys' and Girls' PMB & Districts Schools Swimming Championships in the same year.

Bringing home two prestigious trophies, each with an incredible 95-year legacy, is a moment of immense pride for the entire Laddsworth community. These trophies represent decades of dedication, excellence, and fierce competition, and to have both find a home at Laddsworth this year is a testament to the hard work, teamwork, and commitment of our swimmers, coaches, and supporters.

This achievement will be remembered as a milestone in Laddsworth’s history - Well done to every swimmer for once again, Aiming High.
