Top 20 in SA Cross Country

Tessa Moreno, a Grade 6 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, competed in the South African Cross Country Championships on Friday, 17 September 2021, in Amanzimtoti. The competition was extremely tough, with 51 girls competing in the Girls Under 12 years’ event. Tessa was the first KwaZulu-Natal girl to finish and came 19th, in a time of 12 minutes 59 seconds for 3kms.
Well done Tessa, Laddsworth is very proud of you.

 

KZN Artistic Gymnastics Team

Abbie Julius, a Grade 6 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, participated in the KwaZulu-Natal Qualification Artistic Gymnastics competition in Pinetown on Saturday, 11 September 2021. Abbie came first in her age category for Level 5 and has qualified to participate in the National event in Pretoria in October 2021.

 

KZN Rhythmic Gymnastics Team

Lily Smit, a Grade 6 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, participated in the KwaZulu-Natal Rhythmic Gymnastics Trials in Durban on Saturday 28 August 2021. She competed in the Under 13 Level 4 category performing the free dance, rope and club routines. Lily was placed 2nd and has been selected to participate at the National Gym Games in Pretoria on 4 October 2021. Lily also performed in a group ball routine with three other Level 5 gymnasts. They will be competing against other ball groups in Pretoria on 5 October 2021.

 

Laddsworth Inter-House Athletics

Laddsworth Primary School held their Senior Primary Inter-House Athletics on Thursday 19 August and Friday 20 August 2021. On Thursday the Field events were held and 3 records were broken:
Under 9 Girls High Jump, 1.07m by Sarah Day (Grade 3)
Under 11 Girls Long Jump, 4.04m by Lily Strydom (Grade 5)
Under 11 Boys Shot Put, 8.62m by Samuel Wessels (Grade 5)

The track events were held on Friday. The winning house was Duiker with 322 points, 2nd Kudu, with 318 points, 3rd Nyala with 307 points and 4th Oribi with 292 points.

Laddsworth Grade Threes get creative with Recycling

Laddsworth Grade 3 pupils are learning about recycling in Term 3. On 12 August 2021, they made useful products out of recycled materials. They came up with very interesting ideas and designs, ranging from bird feeders, piggy banks to pot plants.

 

Rhythmic Gymnastics

Lily Smit, a Grade 6 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, took part in the Ocean Invitational Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition in Durban on Saturday, 7 August 2021. This competition was a qualifier for the KwaZulu-Natal Trials at the end of August. Lily performed her free-dance, rope and clubs routines and was placed first in the under 13 category. She also achieved the highest score overall for Level 4.

 

Laddsworth Grade 4 Taste Tour

Laddsworth Grade Fours held the annual Taste Tour on Tuesday 3 August 2021. Every year the Grade Four pupils choose a country to study. They complete a project on their country of choice, including an informative poster, making a puppet and performing a puppet show to the class. On the day of the Taste Tour, pupils prepare a special dish and dress up in a traditional outfit. The Grade Fours had great fun showing and teaching their friends about their chosen country.

 

SPCA 1000 Paws ‘Donations-in-a Tin’ Collection

Laddsworth Primary School collected money for the SPCA 1000 Paws ‘Donations-in-a Tin’ drive. The School raised an amount of R17 309.34. Laddsworth would like to thank our parents and community for their generocity towards animals in need.
There was a class competition to see which class collected the most money. Grade 4 Jackson collected R2 282.91 and Grade 4 Rogers collected R1 854.82. These classes were given treats on Friday, 30 July 2021 by the SPCA team as a reward for their efforts.

 

Laddsworth Trust Fund Golf Day 2021

Laddsworth Primary School invites you to take part in the Laddsworth Trust Fund Golf Day on Friday, 27 August 2021 at Victoria Country Club. The funds raised at the Golf Day will be used to grow the Laddsworth Trust Fund, which forms an integral part in securing the school’s future.

The format will be a 4-Ball Alliance – 2 scores to count, 3 tee-shots minimum per player to be utilised. Shot-gun start with Tee Off at 10h00. Each player will receive a voucher for lunch at the Halfway House. There will be lots of prizes to be won, including nearest to the pin, longest drive and many more. Prize-Giving will take place at approximately 17h00, as soon as all the players have finished and the results calculated. The golfers’ safety is our utmost concern and strict COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed. Should gatherings not be allowed, the prize giving will simply entail players collecting their winnings from the prize table.
The cost per team/4-Ball is R1 600 (R400 per player), which includes your green fees, competition fees and a voucher for lunch at the Halfway House. The closing date for entries is Friday, 13 August 2021. Please book your own golf carts, directly with Victoria Country Club, as early as possible, to avoid disappointment.
