Penguins Regional Level 3 Championship Gala

Laddsworth Grade 4 pupils, Carter Bloxham and Aphelele Mhlongo, competed in the Penguins Regional Level 3 Championship Gala from Friday 26 March to Saturday 27 March 2021 in Pietermaritzburg.
Carter achieved Gold Medals in 7 Under 10 Boys events: 50 &100m backstroke, 50 & 100m freestyle, 200m Individual Medley, 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly. He also achieved a personal best time in each race, which gave him his Level 2 times.
Aphelele achieved Gold Medals for 4 Under 10 Girls events: 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly and a Silver Medal for 100m freestyle. Aphelele achieved her Level 1 times.

Laddsworth Primary School celebrate 118th Birthday

Laddsworth celebrated its 118th Birthday on Monday 1 March 2021. The staff and pupils were treated to a surprise delivery of delicious, individually wrapped doughnuts, kindly donated by the Hilton Quarry SuperSpar.

Laddsworth is very proud of its 118 years of tradition and continues to encourage the values of Loyalty, Honesty, Self-Discipline, Sincerity, Courage and Respect.

 

Wilson Lollipop Tournament Winner

Alexia Smith, a Grade 4 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, competed in the TSA (Tennis South Africa) Wilson Lollipop Tournament on 20 and 21 February 2021 at Westridge Tennis Stadium in Durban. Alexia was the winner of the Green ball section. Congratulations Alexia, Laddsworth is very proud of your achievement.

 

Laddsworth Welcome the Grade Ones of 2021

Laddsworth Primary school was very pleased to welcome back all pupils on Monday 15 February 2021. The new Grade Ones were excited to finally start ‘big school’ and settled in with great enthusiasm, as the school year officially started.

 

Laddsworth Grade 7 Prize Giving Ceremony

Laddsworth Primary School held their annual Prize Giving on Friday 11 December 2020. The Prize Giving was very different this year, with only Grade Sevens and their parents attending and strict COVID-19 safety protocols being adhered to. The Prize Giving was followed by the Bell Ringing Ceremony.
Matthew Bishop was named the Dux of the School for 2020 and received the Trust Cup: Dux of the School. He also received the Laddsworth Natural Sciences Trophy, The Gould Cup for English, the Life Orientation Cup and the Gordijn Cup for Social Sciences.
Laddsworth Primary School wishes the Class of 2020 all the best for the future and encourages them to continue ‘Aiming High’.

 

Pro Kennex UTR Tennis Event

Adam Tilbury, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, took part in the Pro Kennex UTR Tennis Event at Kershaw Park in Pietermaritzburg, from 28 to 29 November 2020. Adam was the runner up in the Under 14 Singles section and was the winner in the Under 14 Doubles section.

 

ROAG KZN Trail running series

Charli Mlotshwa, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, competed in the ROAG semi virtual trail running series, over the last 3 months. The semi virtual races were incorporated in the overall ROAG series to achieve the minimum number of races for the year. Charli won the virtual series for his age group and was the overall winner.

Charli also took part in the ROAG short course series at Karkloof, Illovo Eston, Wartburg and Drak Gardens, where he won his age group and was overall winner of the 8km trail run.

 

KZN Schools Squash

KZN Schools Squash completed three of the four compulsory tournaments for 2020 before the country went into isolation for COVID-19. Only one final trial round of trials was left and that was to finalize their positions in the teams.

Laddsworth Pupils Aiden McNeill (Grade 5) and Lily Strydom (Grade 4) qualified for selection and would have been selected for the Inter-Provincial teams if COVID-19 had not intervened in the selection of the 2020 teams.

 

KZN Midlands Youth Choir

Kendra Tongue, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, has been selected for the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands Youth Choir. She attended the KZN Midlands Youth choir camp, which was held at the Golden Harvest Conference Centre in Nottingham Road from 01 December to 04 December.
Kendra also just received her Music Theory results from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and she passed the Grade 3 Music Theory exam with a Merit of 87%.
Laddsworth is very proud of Kendra’s musical and choral achievements and wish her all the best for her high school career.

 

Gold Medal for Gymnastics

Lily Smit, a Grade 5 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, took part in the Glenwood Invitational Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition on Saturday, 14 November 2020.

Lily performed a Level 3 Free Dance and received a Gold Medal. She came First in Level 3. Lily also achieved the highest score out of all the Level One to Three competing gymnasts.
